1. Fear of making mistakes

Mistakes are good, they mean you're doing your best to learn the language. Notice your mistakes and learn from them. Don't let the fear of embarrassment hold you back. Remember that the more you speak, the faster you will learn.

2. Not listening

Most language learners are afraid of listening to native speakers because they might not understand what they're saying. However, listening is an important part of communication in any language. It is important that you listen to podcasts, movies, TV shows in the target language as much as possible.

3. Giving up

Learning a language is a long-term process. What most learners do is that they start with all they got and then get bored or frustrated and give up. Always be in contact with the language you're learning at least for 10 minutes a day. You could watch a movie in the target language, listen to a song, or read an article. Most importantly, you should be patient, learning a new language doesn't happen overnight, " a little progress each day adds up to big results."

4. Motivation

You need to have a good enough reason to learn a language. This is how you'll keep yourself motivated when you hit a learning wall. Whether you're learning a language for work, travel, or because you're interested in other cultures, print your reason out and pin it up where you can always see it.

5. Focusing on grammar

Some people think that the most important thing when learning a language is to focus on grammatical rules. Of course, grammar is important but you also need to focus on other aspects of the language. Learn to listen and communicate and you'll find that you're learning structure and grammar effortlessly.
